Iš Sedos praeities

LTSeda - Žemaitijos miestelis - pagal dabartinį administracinį skirstymą yra Mažeikių rajone; iki XX a. pradžios priklausė Telšių apskričiai. [...] Sedoje susikerta keli svarbūs keliai iš Telšių, Plungės, Barstyčių, Ylakių, Židikų, Tirkšlių (Mažeikių). Tai liudija, kad Seda kūrėsi judrioje vietoje, senovėje pro ją vedė svarbūs prekybos keliai į Livoniją bei Žemaitijos gilumą. Sausumos kelių sankryža ir patogi, Varduvos apjuosta vieta galėjo turėti nemažą įtaką dvarui atsirasti bei prie jo susikurti didesnei gyvenvietei - miesteliui. Sedos, kaip ir kitų miestelių, planą paveikė XVI a. valakų reforma. Miestelių atsiradimo ir raidos problemas tyrinėję autoriai mano, kad Sedos miestelis sąmoningai suplanuotas ir įkurtas tuščioje vietoje [Šešelgis K., Miškinis A. 1966. P. 318-319]. ENSeda has belonged to the district of Telšiai till the beginning of the 20th c. According to the modern administration, the town of Seda is situated in the district of Mažeikiai. The settlement of Seda was mentioned in the historical sources at the beginning ofthe 16th c. Some authors in their articles point out the past of the city to be older than mentioned before, but they miss reliable sources to prove the fact. Author describes the activity of the owners of the town of Seda and their inheritors since 1500 till the 19th c. The information and statistics covers the period from the birth of Seda till modern times. The estates of Sapiega and Gadonai were described very comprehensively, both of them were surviving for centuries. The reader also is acquainted with the Church of Seda — Church of the Assumption and the buildings surrounding it.
