Kodėl "bombomis bombarduoja"

LTStraipsnyje siekiama rekonstruoti žodžio bombarduoti kilmę ir semantinį ryšį su bomba. Pirmiausia aiškinamasi, ką seniau reiškė ir ką reiškia bomba ir bombarduoti dabar. Apžvelgus terminų raidą daroma išvada, kad dabartinė sistema, įvardijanti aviacijos sąvokas, yra susidariusi is artilerijos (ir rankinės ginkluotės) terminų sistemos: bomba – bombarda – bombarduoti (palyginimui, bombosvaidis – šaudyti; granata – granatsvaidis – šaudyti (mėtyti); kulka – kulkosvaidis – šaudyti). Iškritus realemai bombarda, pakitus bombos reikšmei seka pakito: bomba – bombonešis – bombarduoti (palyginimui, bombolaidis – leisti). Bombonešis gana aiškiai motyvuoja bombos naująją reikšmę. Žodis bombarduoti tebelieka neaiškiai motyvuotas, bet kokios nors dviprasmybės kalbos vartotojai nejaučia. Vienas bandymas taisyti – žodį bombarduoti keisti „aiškiu“ bombuoti - pasirodė nereikalingas, nepriimtinas. Motyvaciją gal kiek praskleistų istorizmo bombarda ir bombos istorinės reikšmės – „pabūklo šaudmuo“ – dėjimas į bendrinės kalbos žodyną. Panašiai (ir kiek kitaip) klostosi minos, torpedos, raketos mikrosistemos, bet čia kai kas tebėra pusiaukelėje, o smarki technikos raida mažai palieka laiko joms susigulėti.
