ENIn addition to Prof. Zigmas Zinkevičius publication on the Lithuanian philology during the Soviet period (Lithuanian philology after the war // Lietuvių kalbos istorija. T. VI) the author describes how the functionaries of the Communist Party supervised the work of Toponymy group of the Institute of Lithuanian language and literature of the Lithuanian Science Academy (the author was a scientific worker in this group during 1958-1965). Several episodes reveal the extend of absurd when functionaries demonstrated their ideological-political vigilance which became a collective hysteria in the atmosphere of total fear.
