ENThe Soviet historiography under the outward homogeneous „faeade" had actually quite uneven „relief" which used to come to the light during various conflicts. Reasons for this kind of conflicts could be found in the contradiction between different methodologies or even paradigms (in that case we don't discuss the contradiction on the most primitive level - between the representatives of communist pragmatism and academic historians). One of the most striking and symptomatic conflicts in the Soviet historiography was the conflict between Communist-Pragmatics and Baltophiles on the one side and J. Jurginis on the other. The union of representatives from two pre-scientific paradigms against J. Jurginis enabled us to look for the manifestation of scientific character and application of rational Marxist theory in praxis in his conception. The use of this clear aspect of theoretical reflection pushed J. Jurginis into the conflicts with historists. Another example of a conflict in the Soviet historiography is the contradiction between „Anticommunist-Marxist" E. Gudavičius and Baltophiles-Lituanocentrists, when the concordant model of civilizations of E. Gudavičius is argued by a non-critical view on Lithuania and World's history and the opponent is accused of „blackening of history".
