ENThis article was discovered and prepared for publication 10 years after the tragic death of the author. This is one of the few academic works in Lithuania on the previously popular Lithuanian business of fishing. It focuses on the individual world of the fishermen, their relationships with nature and people outside the fishermen cast, rather than fishing equipment. Although the plot of the narrative and some issues of contention are borrowed from the famous pre-war ethnologist specialising in fishing, M. Znamierowska-Prüfferova, Piškinaitė-Kazlauskienė introduced much new and interesting material from Vilnius Region and the rest of Lithuania.
