ENAs Lithuania prepares to join the European Union (EU), the question of integration of law arises. First is the question of the treatment of international treaties in the law of Lithuania, since accession to the EU is accomplished by adopting a series of treaties. Thus, the question arises of how treaties and other international agreements are treated in the Lithuanian legal system. Additionally, since accession to the EU is accomplished in part by a delegation of state powers to the central EU governing apparatus, there arises a question of how this will be accomplished under Lithuanian law. This short paper will seek to answer these questions in brief. Some attention is given to addressing the paper to an American audience, which may not be entirely familiar with EU issues.
