Summary / Abstract:

ENThe article is devoted to the 90th birth anniversary and 10th death anniversary of well known professor Jonas Kuzminskis (1906-1985) who was a teacher at Vilnius Academy of Arts Graphic Art Department for 45 years round. The remembrances of his students and artists of his age help to reconstruct some J. Kuzminskis’ - teacher’s features. The article deals with print’s cycle “Lithuanian Folk Songs” by Jonas Kuzminskis. The author aims to show that originality of J. Kuzminskis is his frankness, not complicated, natural relation with folk creation. So in the artist’s personality, in his works are linked the folk artist-primitivist’s and erudite’s, professional artist’s phenomena of intellect. The prints of artist on folk song theme are not only superficial following folk art. The creative works are connected with folk creation, literary, musical folk-lore and the plastic. In the article are compared prints of J. Kuzminskis with the features of folk creation’s structure in various aspects. J. Kuzminskis was very experienced professional artist and overstepped all the highest levels of folk arts interpretation in the professional Lithuanian art of the 20th c. In the cycle “Lithuanian Folk Songs” reflect methods of folk-lore’s interpretation used in the beginning of the century, 40s and later on 70s, 80s in the Lithuanian art.
