Summary / Abstract:

LTPokomunistinė Vidurio Rytų Europos demokratizacija sukėlė didžiulius pokyčius regiono valstybių politikoje, ekonomikoje ir kasdieniame žmonių gyvenime. Netrukus paaiškėjo, kad naujųjų regiono politinių režimų transformacijos keliai išsiskyrė, o Lietuva galutinai pasuko demokratijos link. Šioje knygoje nagrinėjami 1988–2001 m. pokomunistinės Lietuvos demokratizacijos politiniai aspektai, siekiama pagilinti žinias apie Lietuvos politinius elitus, ypatingą dėmesį skiriant jaunimo politinėms organizacijoms. Tyrimas yra grįstas pamatine idėja, jog politinis elitas yra pagrindinis veikėjas Lietuvos demokratinės transformacijos procese. Viena svarbiausių knygoje nagrinėjamų problemų yra generacinis politinio elito pokytis Lietuvoje pokomunistiniu laikotarpiu, sąlygotas jaunosios, sovietmečio patirties neturinčios politikų kartos atėjimo į valstybės politinę areną. Jaunimo politinės organizacijos yra vienas iš kelių jaunimui patekti į šią areną, tačiau moksliniuose tyrimuose minimai problemai iki šiol nėra skirta pakankamai dėmesio. Konceptualiniu požiūriu tyrimas remiasi modernizacijos teorija, kuri teigia, kad galiausiai daugumoje posovietinių valstybių įvyks demokratizacijos procesai, panašūs į tuos, kuriuos savo laiku patyrė Vakarų Europos šalys. Taigi daroma prielaida, kad Lietuvoje vykstanti demokratizacija veda „vakarietiškos“ konsoliduotos demokratijos link, todėl teoriniai modeliai, sukurti paaiškinti Vakarų demokratijų raidą, yra tinkami Lietuvos atvejo analizei.

ENThe democratisation of the post-Communist Central Europe provoked significant changes in the politics, economics and everyday life of the states of the region. Soon it became clear that the new political regimes of the region had chosen different paths for transformation, and Lithuania eventually chose the path towards democracy. This book analyses political aspects of the democratisation process of post-Communist Lithuania in 1988–2001 and seeks to enhance the knowledge about Lithuania’s political elites with particular attention focused on youth political organisations. The research is based on the fundamental idea that political elite is the main actor in the process of democratic transformation of Lithuania. One of the major problems analysed in the book is the generative change of the political elite in Lithuania in the post-Communist period, which was determined by the emergence of the new political generation without any prior soviet experience. Youth political organisations is one of the several ways for the youth to enter this political area, however, the problem mentioned in scientific research has not been studied in a proper manner. As far as the conceptual aspect is concerned, the research is based on the theory of modernisation, which claims that, eventually, the majority of post-soviet states will face democratisation processes similar to those, which countries of Western Europe once experienced. Therefore, it is assumed that the democratisation Lithuania is currently undergoing leads to the “western” consolidated democracy; therefore, theoretical models created in order to explain the development of Western democracies are suitable for the analysis of the case of Lithuania.
