The Myth of the nation of poets and mass poetry in Lithuania

LTStraipsnyje nagrinėjamos dvi pagrindinės problemos. Pirmoji iš jų – masinės literatūros fenomenas ir semiotinės prieeigos suteikiamos analizės galimybės. Pasak J. Lotmano 20-21 a. masinė literatūra yra labiau sociologijos, nei semiotikos objektas. Tačiau tai nepanaikina galimybės į ankstesniojo laikotarpio masinę literatūrą žvelgti per kultūros semiotikos prizmę. Lotmanas straipsnyje "Masinė literatūra kaip istorinė-kultūrinė problema" aptaria 18-19 a. rusų masinę literatūrą. Vertindamas masinę literatūrą kaip dinaminį semiotinės sistemos faktorių Lotmanas išryškina pagrindinius jos bruožus: aukštą automatizacijos laipsnį (klišes) ir atsilikimą. Antroje sraipsnio dalyje autorius aptaria masinės poezijos fenomeną dabartinėje Lietuvoje. Ši masinės lietratūros dalis yra daug artimesnė Lotmano aptartajai, negu visai masinei postmodernizmo epochos literatūrai. Lietuvių masinė poezija eksploatuoja 19 a. tautinio romantizmo kodus ir laiko save atstumtąja aukštosios kultūros dalimi. ENThe article examines two main problems. The first is the phenomenon of mass literature and the analysis possibilities, provided by semiotic access. According to Yuri Lotman, the mass literature of the 20th – 21st centuries is a subject of sociology rather than semiotics. However this does not abolish the possibility to view the mass literature of the previous period through the culture semiotics prism. In his article “Mass Literature as a historical – cultural problem” Lotman discusses Russian mass literature of the 18th – 19th century. When viewing the mass literature as a dynamic factor of the semiotics system Lotman highlights the main traits of such literature: a high level of automatization (clichés) and backwardness. In the second part of the article the author discusses the phenomenon of mass poetry in present-day Lithuania. The said part of mass literature is much closer to the one, discussed by Lotman, than the entire mass literature of the postmodernism era. Lithuanian mass poetry exploits the national romanticism codes of the 19th century and considers itself a rejected part of the high culture. The type of poetry, which is not characteristic of the Western society, demonstrates the trends of the modern post-Soviet culture.
