ENThe genre of historical writing is prevalent among ultra-Orthodoxy. This is litertaure in the servise of cause, which by means of didactic writing seeks to present the reader with idealized role models and promote religious values in the spirit of the ancient traditions, and that is not always guided by the conventions of critical research. This is how David Assaf defines historiography written bu ultra-Orthodox Jews, which the scholarship terms ultra-Orthodox or Orthodox historiography. The aim of this study is to examine the writings of Rabbi Ephraim Oshry, who provided an extensive description of the Kovno ghetto and see whether his writings can be attributed to this category.
