[Kernavės miesto bendruomenė XIII-XIV a. Gintautas Vėlius]

LTRecenzijoje analizuojama Gintauto Vėliaus monografija „Kernavės miesto bendruomenė XIII–XIV a.“ (Vilnius, 2005). Monografijoje apibendrinama neeilinio atradimo Lietuvos istorijoje – viduramžių Kernavės miesto Neries slėnyje ir Kernavės–Kriveikiškių kapinyno (XIIIa.vidurys – 1390m.) tyrinėjimų medžiaga. Ji padeda autoriui realizuoti svarbiausiąjį darbo tikslą – rekonstruoti miesto bendruomenės modelį. Recenzijos autorius atkreipia dėmesį, kad monografijoje apie Kernavės „miestą“ skelbiama archeologinė medžiaga – vertinga, įspūdinga, reikšminga, kvalifikuotai apdorota ir gerai pateikta. Jos interpretavimas istorinės epochos kontekste, derinant su istorijos šaltinių duomenimis ir istoriografijos įdirbiu, – moksliškai silpnas. Gintauto Vėliaus sukurtas Kernavės viduramžių „miesto“ bendruomenės modelis – nepatikimas, ir istorijos moksle nenaudotinas.

ENThe review analyses the monograph “Kernavės miesto bendruomenė XIII–XIV a.” [Kernavė Town Community in the 13th–14th C.] by Gintautas Vėlius (Vilnius, 2005). The monograph generalises the material of explorations of the extraordinary discovery in Lithuania’s history – medieval Kernavė town in the valley of the River Neris and Kernavė-Kriveikiškės cemetery (the mid-13th c. – 1390). It helps the author to achieve the main aim of the study, i.e. to reconstruct the town community model. The reviewer notes that the monograph about Kernavė “town” publishes archaeological data that are valuable, impressive, significant, processed with quality and well-presented. Their interpretation in the context of the historical epoch, comparing them with the data of historical sources and historiographical input, is scientifically weak. The community model of medieval Kernavė “town, created by Vėlius, is unreliable and should not be used in history.
