Lietuva Šventojo Sosto akimis (1922-1939 m.): naujų šaltinių atodangos

LTStraipsnyje apžvelgiami svarbiausi Slaptajame Vatikano archyve saugomi Pijaus XI pontifikato lituanistiniai dokumentai. Atsižvelgiant į istoriografinę padėtį, pagrindinis dėmesys skiriamas dokumentams, atspindintiems Šventojo Sosto atstovų požiūrį į Lietuvoje susidariusią religinio gyvenimo būklę ir jų pastangas spręsti vietos Bažnyčią kamavusias problemas. Remiantis minėtais dokumentais, mėginama nuosekliai rekonstruoti Lietuvos katalikų ir Šventojo Sosto stiprėjančio tarpusavio supratimo bei pasitikėjimo istoriją, stengiantis plačiau atskleisti lietuvių istorikams iki šiol mažiau žinomus šios istorijos puslapius ir taip preliminariai nubrėžti galimus būsimų tyrimų kontūrus. Straipsnyje analizuoti dokumentai aiškiai parodo, kad nepaisant dažnai itin kritiško požiūrio į Lietuvos religinio ir politinio gyvenimo tikrovę, popiežius, jo artimiausi bendradarbiai Romoje ir diplomatiniai atstovai šalyje mokėjo su tėvišku atlaidumu priimti mūsų tėvų ir senelių klaidas bei kantriai laukti brandos vaisių.

ENThe articles presents the most important Lithuania-related documents of the pontificate of Pius XI in the Vatican's Secret Archive. Taking into account the historiographic situation, most of the attention is devoted to the documents which reflect the attitude of the Holy See representatives to the situation of religious life arising in Lithuania and their efforts to resolve the problems affecting the local Church. Relying on the mentioned documents, there is an effort to reconstruct consistently the history of the understanding and growing trust of the mutual understanding between Lithuania's Catholics and the Holy See, trying to reveal more broadly the pages of this history up to now little known by Lithuanian historians and in this way draw the preliminary possible contours for future investigations. The documents analyzed in the article clearly show that despite the often especially critical attitude toward the reality of Lithuania's religious and political life, the pope, his closest colleagues in Rome, and the diplomatic representatives in the country knew how with fatherly forgiveness to accept the mistakes of Lithuania's church and lay authorities as well as to wait patiently for the maturing of the fruit.
