Владас Дрема и его исследования в области рукописной книги

LTVladas Drėma (1910-1995) Antrojo pasaulinio karo metu dirbo Baltarusijos muziejaus Vilniuje fondų saugotoju. 1944 m. jis norėjo įsidarbinti Mokslo akademijos bibliotekos Rankraščių skyriuje, kadangi rengė mokslinį darbą apie LDK rankraštinės ir spausdintos knygos meną. Asmeniniame V. Drėmos fonde saugomi du archyviniai dokumentai ta pačia tema ir vienas „Sugalvotos studijos pradžios fragmentas“. Tai išrašai, piešiniai, fotografijos ir vienetiniai tekstai, tapę šio straipsnio pagrindu. Jame norima išsiaiškinti ką naujo atrado menotyrininkas, tyrinėdamas rankraštinės LDK knygos istoriją, ir ar galima jį vadinti pirmuoju rankraštinės knygos lietuvių istoriku. Išlikusių rankraščių pagalba bandoma nustatyti kriterijus, kuriais jis vadovavosi, rinkdamas tyrimų medžiagą, atrinkdamas knygas ar jų fragmentus. Be to, kyla klausimas kokius knygų egzempliorius matė tyrinėtojas ir ar visi egzemplioriai išliko iki šių dienų. Analizės metu nustatyta, kad teoriniame etape jis studijavo visuotinę knygos ir meno istoriją, knygos meninio apiforminimo istoriją, ypač Bizantijos ir senosios Rusios. Pagrindinį dėmesį tyrinėtojas skyrė rašto istorijai, meniniams rankraštinių elementų ir įrišimų ypatumams bei knygų gamybos būdams. Išanalizavus V. Drėmos surinktą medžiagą nustatyta, jog menotyrininkas planavo parašyti darbą pagal anksčiau išleistų (ir dabar leidžiamų) iliustruotų katalogų pavyzdį: pirma dalis – bendra, istorinė, joje taip pat pateiktas knygų meninių elementų katalogas su aprašais; antroje dalyje – iliustracijų (inicialų, raidžių, miniatiūrų, vandens ženklų, įrišimų) albumas.

ENDuring World War II Vladas Drema (1910-1995) worked as a chief curator of the Belarusian Museum in Vilnius. In 1944 he sought employment in the Manuscript department of the Library of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, as he was writing a research paper on the art of manuscripts and printed books in the Grand Duchy of Lithuania (GDL). Drema’s personal portfolio holds two archival documents on the same topic and a fragment from the first part of his research study. The latter includes extracts, drawings, photographs and separate texts that provided the basis for this article. It aims to clarify what the art historian discovered while researching the history of the manuscript in the GDL and whether he can be described as the first Lithuanian manuscript historian. With the help of the surviving manuscripts, some now attempt to establish what criteria he used when gathering research material and selecting books or their fragments. The question arises as to what book samples the historian saw and whether all of them have survived until the present day. The analysis revealed that when studying artistic theories he focused on the universal history of art and books and the history of the artistic appearance of books, concentrating on Byzantium and Old Russia. The historian's main focus was on the history of scripts, the artistic and book binding features of manuscripts, as well as book creation methods. After analysing the material collected by Vladas Drema it was established that he was planning to write his research paper following the example of previously (and currently) published illustrated catalogues: the first part being of a general, historic nature and also containing a descriptive list of the artistic features of the books; the second part being an album of illustrations including initials, letters, miniatures, water marks and bindings.
