О возможности альтернативного истолкования одного гидронимического гнезда
LTViena produktyviausių V. N. Toporovo baltoslaviškų tyrinėjimų krypčių buvo hidronimų dabartinėje Rusijos teritorijoje analizė, siekiant atskleisti jų baltišką kilmę. Vienas pirmųjų fundamentalių tyrimų šia tema – bendra Toporovo ir O. N. Trubačiovo studija „Viršutinės Padneprės hidronimų lingvistinė analizė“ (1962). Remdamiesi žodžių struktūros ir etimologine analize autoriai išskyrė du stambius kalbamosios teritorijos hidronimų masyvus – slaviškos kilmės ir baltiškuosius. Straipsnyje aiškinamasi, ar vieno, kaip teigiama Toporovo ir Trubačiovo studijoje, baltiškojo hidronimų lizdo kilmė gali būti paaiškinta remiantis slavų kalbos medžiaga. Šie hidronimai yra Strena, Striana ir Striači. Pirmuosius du autoriai aiškina kilus iš lietuvių Stirna, Stirnė (upė), o trečiojo atveju yra linkę pasitikėti A. Būgos aiškinimu, kuriuo remiantis Striači kildintinas iš lietuvių hidronimo Sirinčia. Hidronimų variantai įgalina ir kitokį aiškinimą, t. y. jų siejimą su rusų встреча arba встретить/встречу (susitikimas, susitikti). Straipsnyje analizuojama ryšio tarp „susitikimo“ ir hidronimo, upės pavadinimo, semantinė motyvacija.
ENOne of the most productive trends of Balto-Slavic studies by V. N. Toporov was the analysis of hydronyms in the current territory of Russia in order to reveal their Baltic origin. One of the first fundamental studies on this topic is a common study “A Linguistic Analysis of the Hydronyms of the Upper Dnieper Basin” by Toporov and O. N. Trubachev (1962). Based on the word structure and etymological analysis, the authors distinguished two major groups of hydronyms in the given territory: those of Slavic origin and those of Baltic origin. The paper explores whether the origin of one family of Baltic hydronyms could be explained on the basis of Slavic material, like it is stated in the study of Toporov and Trubachev. These hydronyms are Strena, Striana and Striači. The authors explain the origin of the first two words from Lithuanian Stirna, Stirnė (river), whereas concerning the third hydronym, they refer to the explanation of A. Būga, whereby Striači is originated from a Lithuanian hydronym Sirinčia. Hydronym variants also enable another explanation, i.e. they are related to Russian words встреча or встретить/встречу [a meeting, to meet]. The paper analyses the semantic motivation of the relationship between “a meeting” and the hydronym (the name of the river).
