Summary / Abstract:

LTStraipsnyje aptariamas antrojo prūsų Katekizmo egzempliorius, saugomas Peterburge. Reikšminiai žodžiai: Kalbos istorija; Katekizmas; Kultūros istorija; Mažiulis; Prūsų kalba; Rašto paminklas; Toporovas; Catechism; Language history; Literary monument; Maziulis; Old Prussian language; The Prussian language; Toporov.

ENAn article is about a copy of the second Prussian Catechism that is kept in Petersburg. It is noted that the second Prussian catechism is a corrected edition of the first Catechism. 192 copies were published but only 8 remained and the copy that is kept in Petersburg is considered to be the ninth. According to S.Baltrušaitis who described the copy, this copy of the Catechism was kept in an incunabula room of the public library of the Emperor. However, in an edition of V.Mažiulis' records of the Prussian language it is stated that the copy is not in the library in Petersburg and its destiny is not known since the World War I. It is noted that many other researchers made reference of this Mažiulis' statement. It is thought that the Catechism was brought to the public library of the Emperor from Zaluskiai library. The oldest cipher of the Catechism is the cipher of hall 17. From this hall, R.I.Minclovas transferred the Catechism to the incunabula room. The reference of the Catechism lead to the appendixes of Lithuanian bibles, its number was 113a. A new inventory number m-2045 was given to the Catechism in 1963. It is noted that the copy of Petersburg is very important to the study of Baltic languages because it contains an anonymous document about the death of the last person who spoke Prussian in 1677. It was inscribed on a titular page of the Catechism approx. in 1700. However, it is emphasized that the originality of the inscription is negotiable because some pages of the articles written by A.A.Kunikas in the 19th c are missing. Therefore a conclusion is that a particular content of Kunikas report about the Catechism is not know yet.
