Summary / Abstract:

LTKauno arkikatedros bazilikos lobyne saugomas XIX a. pabaigoje sukurtas liturginių rūbų garnitūras, tituluojamas Angélique Pontifical (Angelų pontifikalu), imponuojantis ne tik prabanga, kuriai gali prilygti tik nedaugelis Lietuvos bažnyčių paramentų, bet ir savo ikonografija, meninio vaizdo kūrimo priemonėmis ir tobula atlikimo technika. Taip pat aptariama viso šio liturginių rūbų ansamblio ir jį sudarančių atskirų dalių (arnoto, kapos, mažųjų rekvizitų) ikonografija, jos pirmavaizdžiai ir teologinė prasmė, kurią perteikia straipsnyje apžvelgiami meninio vaizdo kūrimo būdai bei techninės priemonės. ENThe article analyzes a set of liturgical vestments and altarcloths known by the title of Angelic Pontificals (Pontifical Angélique) safeguarded at the Apostles St Peter and St Paul's Cathedral in Kaunas. In Lithuania it was publicly displayed at the exhibition Christianity in Lithuanian Art and described, in short, in the folio catalogue of the exhibition. In Lithuania it appears one of most luxurious sets of liturgical textiles following the Lord's commandment to Moses that 'a sacred garment should be created in Gloriam et Decorem'. Each of the pieces in the Pontifical Angélique set has an autonomous composition and unique iconographie programme, but all together they result in a uniform and indivisible whole, an impressive illustration to the victory of faith over godlessness and the idea of the Church's triumph. The article discusses the creators of this masterpiece of liturgical textiles, the original make up of the set and history of subsequent additions. It presents international appraisal and makes hypothesis regarding the possible donor. Technical and artistic qualities of the garments and fabrics used to make them are also analyzed. Among other themes visited in the article are also iconographical source-icons employed in decorating the set and their reinterpretation in line with the ideas that dominated Christian decorative art at the turn of the 19* and 20* centuries.
