Evaluation of higher education system dimensions affecting national competitiveness

LTDisertacijos tikslas yra įvertinti šalies konkurencingumą veikiančias aukštojo mokslo sistemos dimensijas. Tai pasiekiama išanalizavus konkurencingumo teorijas bei aukštojo mokslo sistemos modelius ir identifikavus aukštojo mokslo sistemos dimensijas, veikiančias šalies konkurencingumą. Taip pat darbe yra atlikta pokyčių aukštojo mokslo sistemos dimensijose palyginamoji analizė keturiose konkurencingose Europos šalyse 1999-2006 metais ir pateiktas vykusių pokyčių kritinis įvertinimas šalių konkurencingumo kontekste. Atliktas empirinis tyrimas leidžia išplėsti teorinį aukštojo mokslo sistemos dimensijų poveikio šalies konkurencingumui modelį, nurodant pokyčių atskirose dimensijose kryptis ir įvardinant pagrindines pokyčių tendencijas. Galiausiai darbe yra pateikiamos aukštojo mokslo sistemos tobulinimo rekomendacijos, kurias įgyvendinus sustiprėtų aukštojo mokslo sistemos poveikis nacionaliniam konkurencingumui.

ENThe objective of the thesis is to assess dimensions of higher education system that affect the competitiveness of the state. This is achieved through analysis of competition theories and models of higher education system, and the identification of the dimensions of the higher education system that affect the competitiveness of the state. Also, the work delivers comparative analysis of dimensional changes in the higher education system in the four competitive European countries (1999-2006) and critically evaluates these changes in a context of competitiveness of states. The empirical research performed enables expanding theoretical model of higher education dimensions’ impacts on competitiveness of a state, identifying directions of changes in certain dimensions and the main tendencies of changes. Finally, the work delivers recommendations of the improvement of higher education system, whose implementation will strengthen the impact of higher education on national competitiveness.
