ENJurgis Jankus, trainee of Kedainiai and Siauliai Teachers Seminaries and Kaunas Vytautas Didysis University, who successfully worked as a teacher in Lithuanian provinces, became famous by the novels Exams and Without Shores, published by Sakalas in 1938. Recognition was doubtless. It is obvious from reading the then periodicals. "With his Exams Jankus nicely passed the exams to acquire the true, highly cultured writers name", wrote Fabijonas Neveravicius (Dienovidis, 1938, No 7-8). Algirdas Gustaitis in Naujoji Romuva (1938, No 39) called the debutant adult person master and mouthpiece of brave word. Be krantu was well appreciated by already known and perspective young writer, not tended to deliver credits, Viktoras Katilius (Dienovidis, 1939, No l): "Non-stopping lyricism, word sensitivity, nature and love scene subtlety - all is pulsing in a beat with soul and experiences of the main character. One can feel author open and sincere, i.e. like we want to see the writer." Gifted belletrist had to have a long life full of creation. Many people, not only the closest, have noticed that Jurgis Jankus had inborn writing like water for a fish. 79 years were dedicated for writing (the first prose texts were published in 1923). Though he was acknowledged in Lithuania, matured there and formed like a person, most of his life he had to spend far from the motherland, in USA, where he wrote his most significant pieces.JURGIS JANKUS - is the book about life and creation of gifted prosaist, dramatist and publicist.
