Vokiečių ordinas: sena ir nauja : recenzija

LTIki šiol požiūris į Vokiečių ordiną bei lietuvių kovas su kryžiuočiais buvo politizuotas. Tarpukariu istorikams rūpėjo parodyti lietuvius Lietuvos istorijoje ir atsispirti Vokietijos, Lenkijos bei Rusijos istoriografijos primetamiems vertinimams, kurie lietuviams buvo nepatogūs, nemalonūs, įžeidžiantys. Po Antrojo pasaulinio ši istoriografijos tendencija išliko, bet Lietuvos istorijoje „neliko lietuvių“. Vietoj jų atsirado rusų ir lietuvių, o dar geriau – Pabaltijo tautų ir rusų draugystės nuo žilos senovės iki „socializmo pergalės“ leitmotyvas. Hartmuto Boockmanno Vokiečių ordinui skirta knyga, verčia permąstyti lietuvių ir nukariautų prūsų santykius su Vokiečių ordinu. Ji yra juo svarbesnė, kad supažindina su dabartinėmis vokiečių istoriografijos tendencijomis, kurios vaduojasi iš visų trijų Reichų bei poniurnberginės Vokietijos istoriografijos gniaužtų. Nors knygos autoriui lietuvių istoriografijos nėra, o Ordino istorija vaizduojama vien per vokiečių ir lenkų istoriografijų disputų prizmę, monografijoje padarytos išvados ir iškelti klausimai lietuvių istoriografijai svarbūs. Ypač atsikratant stereotipo, kad Vokiečių ordinas buvo baisiausias Lietuvos priešas, o lietuviai – kankinių tauta. Autoriaus pasirinkta darbo metodika ir monografijos struktūra leido išryškinti tam tikrus istorinius Vokiečių ordino raidos lūžius, kurie geriau nei krūva faktų parodo glūdinčias kryžiuočių ir lietuvių bei prūsų santykių raidos problemas. ENUntil now the attitude to the Teutonic Knights and Lithuanian fights against them was politicised. In the period between the World Wars the historians were concerned about showing Lithuanians in the history of Lithuania and resisting judgements imposed by German, Polish and Russia historiography, which were uncomfortable, unpleasant and insulting for Lithuanians. After the World War II this trend of historiography survived but Lithuanians no longer existed in the history of Lithuania. They were replaced by a leitmotif of the friendship between Russians and Lithuanians, or even better - between the Baltic nations and Russians that existed from the ancient times till the "victory of socialism". A book by Hartmut Boockmann dedicated to the Teutonic Knights makes the reader to reconsider the relations between Lithuanians and defeated Prussians and the Teutonic Knights. the book is even more important for introducing the present trends observed in the German historiography, which are trying to liberate themselves from the clutches of the historiography of all three Reichs and post-Nuremberg Germany. Despite non-existence of Lithuanian historiography for the author, while the history of the Knights is depicted exclusively through the prism of the disputes between the German and Polish historiographies, the conclusions made and the questions raised in the monograph are important for the Lithuanian historiography. In particular when trying to get rid of a stereotype that the Teutonic Order was the fiercest enemy of Lithuania, while Lithuanians were a nation of martyrs. The work methods chosen by the author, as well as the structure of the monograph allowed highlighting certain historical breaking points in the development of the Teutonic Order, which give better illustration of the problems faced in the course of the development of relations between the Teutonic Knights and Lithuanians and Prussians than a number of facts.
