Padvarių senųjų laukų tyrinėjimai

LT2002 m. VU kartu su KM pradėjo Padvarių senujų laukų (Kretingos r., Padvarių k.) archeologinius tyrimus, remiamas VMSF. Senieji laukai yra apie 250 m į R nuo Akmenos užtvankos, apie 150 m į R nuo Padvarių senovės gyvenvietės, apie 500 m į Š nuo geležinkelio, nedideliame, apie 4,5 ha, miške. Tai vienas iš Padvarių archeologinio komplekso objektų. Be šių senujų laukų, toje pačioje upės pusėje yra ir senovės gyvenvietė, o kitame upės krante - I. Jablonskio tyrinėtas pilkapynas ir kapinynas, šalia kurių taip pat aptikti senieji laukai [p. 260].

ENIn 2003 VU together with KM continued exlporations in the Padvariai fossil fields. In the northwest of the site a stone rampart (the total area of 23.6 m²) was explored. During the investigations it was established that the size of the stone rampart is 4.55 x 4.10 m. It was built in two stages: at the beginning, on the soil surface the primary stone rampart was built, where the thickness of the stone layer was 50-60 cm. Later next to its northern and northearstern edge a pit was dug which was heaped with stones. The thickness of this layer was about 90 cm. While building the later stone rampart, a part of the stones was heaped on the previous stone rampart. Based on C14 dating, the primary stone rampart was built in the 10th century and the later one was built in the 14th century.
