LT2003 m. VU tęsė Benaičių archeologinio komplekso tyrinėjimus, pradėtus 2000 m. ir tęstus 2002 m. (žr. ATL 2000 metais, V., 2001, p. 14-16; ATL 2002 metais, V., 2005, p. 10-12. Tyrinėjimų tikslas - ištirti apardytas vietas bei patikslinti šio archeologinio objekto teritoriją [p. 16].

ENIn 2003 in the Benaičiai archaeological complex, 3 trenches: 13, 14 and 15 were explored. The total explored area makes 150 m². During the investigations the cultural layers of ancient settlements belonging to three periods were unearthed and finds collected. The earliest settlement is dated back to the Bronze Age, the later one - to the Late Iron Age. In addition to that, finds from a late village-site of the 19th century were found, along with a half-destroyed cultural layer. In the investigated settlements, various structures related to the buildings of ancient settlements were found, such as stone pavings, fireplaces, household pits, post-sites. Finds include wheelmade and handmade pottery, clay plaster, animal bones, iron artefacts, iron dross and slag. In trench 15 the burnt human bones were uncovered being dispersed in the area of 1.5 m in diameter. datable from the Late Bronze Age.
