Menotyrininkų akiratyje - lietuvių išeivijos dailė

LT2003 metais išleista knyga "Išeivijos dailė" suteikia progą įdėmiau pažvelgti į dar vieną Lietuvos dailės dalį, meno kūrinius, XX a. antrojoje pusėje lietuvių sukurtus plačiajame pasaulyje. Ši knyga - ne vadovėlis, specifinė jos problematika bus įdomi greičiau meno profesionalui, kolekcininkui, o ne pradedančiam domėtis menu. Joje pateikiamos šešių menotyrininkų - I. Korsakaitės, L. Laučkaitės, S. Goštauto, V. Liutkaus, G. Kazokienės ir E. Lubytės - apybraižos. Čia keliamas vienas svarbiausių klausimų - lietuvių dailininkų vieta ir vaidmuo pasauliniame mene. Beveik visi knygos autoriai jį jaučia ir bent kiek aptaria, tačiau aiškių atsakymų taip ir nepateikia. Tai pirmasis didesnės apimties bandymas aprėpti išeivijos dailę, todėl rašymas dažniausiai informatyvus ir "neutralus": jau vien iliustracijų, objekto pasirinkimas rodo autorių pozicijas. Knygoje atskleidžiami lietuvių išeivijos kultūrinio ir visuomeninio gyvenimo faktai, kai kur ryškiai ir skausmingai veriasi dar menkai betyrinėti išeivių tarpusavio santykių, socialinių ir kultūrinių ryšių su "vietiniais" klausimai ir apskritai emigracinės menininko būties problemos. Čia ne kartą skamba mintis, kad išeiviams menininkams europinės tradicijos buvo labai svarbios (lietuviai atsivežė į Vakarus europietiško meno tradicijas, realizmo, ekspresionizmo, figūrinės dailės pamatus), tačiau jie neišvengė uždarumo, užsisklendimo savoje bendruomenėje, kuri nepažįsta ir nepripažįsta naujųjų krypčių ir apraiškų, ypač tų, kurių nebuvo Lietuvoje.

ENThe book "Išeivijos dailė", published in 2003 provides an opportunity to get a closer look of another part of Lithuanian art, i. e. the pieces of art, created by Lithuanians, residing in different parts of the world in the second part of the 20th century. The book is not a manual, its specific subjects will most likely be of greater interest to art professionals, collectors, rather than those, only starting to take interest in art. The book provides essays, written by six art critics - I. Korsakaitė, L. Laučkaitė, S. Goštautas, V. Liutkus, G. Kazokienė and E. Lubytė. The book raises one of the most important issues, i. e. the place and role of Lithuanians in the world’s art. Almost all the authors of the book feel the said place and, to a certain extent, discuss it however no clear answers are presented. The book is the first more or less significant attempt to cover the expatriates’ art therefore the writing is most frequently informative and “neutral”, the authors’ positions are also shown by the choice of illustrations and subjects. The book reveals the facts of cultural and social life of Lithuanian expatriates, the issues of interrelations between the expatriates, their social and cultural relations with the “locals”, which have not yet been extensively studied and the problems of the emigratory state of an artist as a whole are expressly and painfully intertwined. The reiterating idea is that the European traditions were of an utmost importance to the expatriate artists (the Lithuanians brought the traditions of the European art and the basics of realism, expressionism and figure art to the West) however they failed to avoid the alienation and withdrawal into their own community, which did not want to recognize and get familiar with the new trends and manifestations, especially those, which were not present in Lithuania.
