Medininkų pilies archeologiniai tyrinėjimai 1961-1963 metais

LT1961-1964 m. Karolis Mekas tyrinėjo Medininkų, Liškiavos, Biržų, Trakų pusiasalio pilis. Nors didesnioji K. Meko pilių ir senamiesčių archeologinių tyrinėjimų dalis liko ataskaitų tomuose, tačiau ir praėjus kelioms dešimtims metų po Kauno, Medininkų, Liškiavos ir kitų pilių archeologinių tyrinėjimų ataskaitose pateikti kasinėjimų duomenys neprarado savo mokslinės vertės, juo labiau kad daugeliu atvejų tyrinėjimų ataskaitų teiginiai, išvados ir paskelbti straipsniai suformavo dabartinį požiūrį į LDK vakarinės dalies pirmųjų mūrinių pilių istorinę raidą. Publikuojant Medininkų pilies 1961-1962 m. tyrinėjimų ataskaitas norėta ne tiek spręsti pilies pastatymo ir raidos chronologijos, gynybinių ypatumų ir skirtumų problemas aptvarinių LDK pilių kontekste, bet apibendrinti svarbiausius 1961-1963 m. pilies archeologinių tyrinėjimų atradimus, suformavusius dabartinį pilies įvaizdį, ir kiek leidžia straipsnio apimtis paskelbti ir kuo išsamiau aptarti pilyje rastą archeologinę medžiagą. Publikuojant tyrinėjimus laikytasi ataskaitose aprašomos tyrinėjimų eigos, nekeičiamas, kiek tai įmanoma, pats aprašymas, pilyje rastų objektų ir radinių datavimas, tik tyrinėjimų ataskaitos sutrumpinamos iki straipsnio apimties. Publikuojamas ataskaitas stengtasi papildyti plačiau aptariant ir analizuojant bei pateikiant kuo didesnį archeologinių radinių piešinių skaičių. Trečioje dalyje, remiantis daugiau kaip per 40 prabėgusių metų sukauptais LDK aptvarinių pilių tyrinėjimų duomenimis, bandoma papildyti ir polemizuoti su ataskaitose pareikštais teiginiais.Reikšminiai žodžiai: Medininkų pilis; 1961-1963 m. archeologiniai tyrimai; Karolis Mekas.

ENIn 1961-1964 Karolis Mekas studied the castles of Medininkai, Liškiava, Biržai and Trakai. Although the bigger part of K. Mekas’s studies is provided in the reports, the data, even several decades after the archeological studies of Kaunas, Medininkai, Liškiava and other castles have not lost their value, moreover that in most cases the statements of the reports, the conclusions and the published articles formed the present-day view of the historical development of the first stone castles of the Western part of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. When publishing the reports of studies of the Medininkai castle in 1961-1962 attempts were made not only to resolve the problems of chronology of construction and development of the castle, its defense peculiarities and differences in the context of defensive castles of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, but also to summarize the most important discoveries of the archeological studies of the castle, performed in 1961-1963, which shaped the present-day image of the castle and, to the extent, permitted by the scope of the article, to publish and discuss the archeological materials, found in the castle as comprehensively as possible. When publishing the studies the process of examination, described in the reports was observed, the description and dating of the objects and findings, discovered in the castle was not changed to the extent it was possible, only the reports of studies were abridged to the size of an article. Attempts were made to supplement the published reports by presenting, analyzing and comprehensively discussing as biggest number of drawings of the archeological findings as possible. In the third part, referring to the data of studies of defense castles of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, accumulated during more than 40 previous years, attempts are made to supplement the statements, provided in the reports and debate them.
