Kražių jėzuitų kolegijos likimas po 1773 metų jėzuitų ordino panaikinimo

LTKražių jėzuitų kolegija, XVII-XVIII a. turėjusi didžiausią Žemaitijoje mūrinių pastatų kompleksą, buvo pakankamai aprūpinta (jai priklausė 877 valakai, arba 18733 ha, su 4 palivarkais, 1 dvaru ir 23 jiems priklausančiais kaimais). Padėtis visai pasikeitė panaikinus jėzuitų ordiną. Straipsnyje aptariama, kaip sugriuvo, o iš dalies ir sąmoningai XVIII a. pabaigoje-XIX a. pirmojoje pusėje dėl krašte susiklosčiusios politinės bei religinės padėties buvo sunaikintas šis svarbiausias žemaičių krašto švietimo bei kultūros centras. Panaikinus jėzuitų ordinų, Kražių kolegija atiteko Edukacinės komisijos žinion ir tapo vaivadijos, vėliau apygardos mokykla. Iš pradžių ji buvo triklasė, o nuo 1782 m. 6 klasių, ją lankydavo apie 200-400 mokinių. 1797 m. mokykla buvo perduota Kolainių vienuoliams karmelitams. Tiek Edukacinė komisija, tiek karmelitai stokojo lėšų mokyklos remontui. Per dvidešimt Kolainių karmelitų valdymo metų buvusios Kražių kolegijos pastatų būklė tapo avarine. Karmelitai, negalėdami jų suremontuoti, pasiūlė mokyklą perkelti į Kolainius. Matyt, atsižvelgusi į tai, kad Kražiai buvo Žemaitijos švietimo centras, Vilniaus švietimo apygarda sutiko perimti mokyklą iš karmelitų ir suremontuoti. 1816 m. Kražiuose įsteigta pasaulietinė gimnazija, paskiriant jai išlaikymą iš buvusių jėzuitų valdų pajamų, paskirta taip pat vienkartinė 9150 sidabro rublių išmoka pastatų restauracijai. Straipsnyje detaliai aptariami 1817-1819 m. ir vėliau atlikti remonto darbai, neišsprendę pastatų būklės problemos. 1843 m. gimnazija buvo perkelta į Kauną, jos pastatai netrukus buvo parduoti iš varžytynių ir nugriauti.

ENThe Jesuit college of Kražiai, which, in the 17th – 18th centuries had the biggest complex of stone buildings in Samogitia, was sufficiently provided (it had 877 Wallachs or 18733 ha with 4 folwarks, 1 mansion and 23 villages). The situation changed drastically upon abolition of the Jesuit Order. The article discusses the ways the said important center of education and culture of the Samogitian land collapsed, or, maybe was deliberately obliterated at the end of the 18th – the first half of the 19th century due to the political and religious situation in the land. Upon abolition of the Jesuits’ Order the college of Kražiai was transferred to the Educational Commission and became the school of the voivodeship. In the beginning it was a three-year school, and starting from 1782 – a six-year school, it was attended by 200-400 pupils. In 1797 the school was transferred to the Carmelite monks of Kolainiai. Both the Educational Commission and the Carmelites lacked funds for repairs of the school. During the twenty years of management by Kolainiai Carmelites the state of the buildings of the former college of Kražiai became an emergency one. The Carmelites, not able to repair them, suggested transferring the school to Kolainiai. It is likely that, taking into consideration the fact that Kražiai was the educational centre of Samogitia, the educational circuit of Vilnius agreed to take the school over from the Carmelites and repair it. In 1816 a secular gymnasium was founded in Kražiai, it was supported from the income of the former Jesuit domains and the one-off payment of 9150 silver roubles for restoration of the buildings was donated. The repair works, performed in 1817-1819 and later, discussed in the article in detail, failed to resolve the problem with the state of the buildings. In 1843 the gymnasium was transferred to Kaunas, and its buildings were sold by auction and demolished.
