ENThe paper presents on a comparative basis the development of the insurance market in Poland and Lithuania over the period 2001–2011. The analyses employs main indicators of the insurance activity, such as: the number of insurers, the number of insurance policies and their prices, sum total of insurance premiums, sum total of insurance compensations and benefits etc., and various relative indicators. The analysis considers the division of personal (notably life insurance) and property insurance. A separate part of the analysis is devoted to the concentration of the insurance market.
