Zjednoczenie jako czynnik przesądzający rozpad. Raz jeszcze o dziejach litewskich i polskich

LTStraipsnyje pabrėžiama, kad iki Lenkijos ir Lietuvos valstybės pabaigos išliko dviejų valstybių atskyrumas. Be to, ypač LDK atveju, išliko politinės tautos atskirumas, pasireiškiantis savo valstybingumo gynimu. Kitas procesas, kuris apsprendė istoriją - tai Lenkijos ir Lietuvos valstybių bajoriškų tautų virtimas į lenkišką lenkų tautą. Po to, atsirado lietuvių tauta ir tik tada susiformavo Lietuvos lenkai. Vienos kartos laikotarpiu įvyko esminiai ir spartūs lietuvių savimonės pokyčiai. Abipusio supratimo tarp padalintųjų nebuvo ir negalėjo būti. Tačiau iki esminės konfrontacijos buvo prieita tik tada, kai atgimė lietuvių ir lenkų valstybės, kadangi apie teritoriją, dėl kurios buvo kovota, buvo galvojama išimtinai savininko kategorijomis. Tikimasi, kad dabar visuomenėse, ypač tarp elitų, bus daugiau supratimo dėl to, kad gali būti savi dalykai, tačiau tuo pat pat metu jais galima dalintis su kitais, abipusiai praturtėjant ir kartu nė akimirkai nenustojant galvoti apie ateitį.

ENThe article emphasizes that the separateness of Poland and Lithuania remained till the end of the Polish – Lithuanian Commonwealth. In addition, especially in the case of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the separateness of the political nation, manifesting in the defense of the own statehood was prominent. Another process, which determined history, was the turning of the noble nations of the states of Poland and Lithuania into the Polish nation of Poles. Afterwards the Lithuanian nation came into existence and only then there emerged Lithuanian Poles. Certain essential and rapid changes of the Lithuanian self-perception occurred during the period of one generation. Mutual understanding between the separated people was out of the question. However essential confrontation was approached only when the states of Lithuania and Poland were reinstated, since the territory, which was the object of dispute, was thought of exclusively in the ownership categories. It is expected that at present the societies, especially the elite, will have more understanding of the aspects, which can be own however at the same time they can be shared with others for the purpose of mutual enrichment and thinking of the future together.
