Tautos muziejus: vizijos ir tikrovė

LTStraipsnyje apžvelgta nacionalinio muziejaus samprata tarpukario Lietuvoje bei mėginimai sukurti tokį muziejų. Aptariant nacionalinio muziejaus kūrimo peripetijas parodyta, kaip mėginta suderinti požiūrį į muziejų, kaip į tautos kovų šventovę, bei būtinybę įkurti muziejinę įstaigą, atspindinčią aktualius meninės kultūros procesus, pristatančią visuomenei šalies meninės kultūros paminklus. Taip atskleistas Vytauto Didžiojo muziejaus dvilypumas.

ENThe article addresses the concept of a national museum At the first half of the 20th century in Lithuania and the attempts to establish such a museum in the 1920s The discussion on the peripetia of the establishment of a national museum includes endeavours to coordinate (a) an attitude to a museum as a temple of the nation's struggle and sufferings, and (b) the concept of a museum as an institution representing the country's culture. A review of such attempts revealed a two-fold character of the Vytautas the Great Museum. The museum's history is associated with the mentality of Lithuanian society, the peculiarities of a historical and cultural consciousness.
