Vlado Terlecko monografija "Lietuvos bankininkai. Gyvenimų ir darbų pėdsakai. 1918-1940"

LTStraipsnyje recenzuojama V.Terlecko monografija Lietuvos bankininkai. Gyvenimų ir darbų pėdsakai. 1918-1940. Knyga vainikuoja autoriaus daugiau kaip prieš tris dešimtmečius pradėtus įvairių istorinių šaltinių tyrinėjimų Lietuvos pinigų ir bankininkystės istorijos srityje apibendrinimus, jau publikuotus ankstesnėse monografijose. Lietuvos istorija tampa daug visapusiškesnė bei vientisesnė susipažinus su autoriaus šiltai nuspalvintomis tarpukario bankininkų elito biografijomis, jų gyvenimo istorijomis, juo labiau, kad daugelis anuometinių bankų vadovų carizmo laikais aktyviai dalyvavo nacionalinio išsilaisvinimo judėjime, o Nepriklausomybės metais - politiniame ir visuomeniniame šalies gyvenime. Daugelis darbe pateiktų naujų, anksčiau neskelbtų, archyvų ir atsiminimų duomenų bei iš įvairiausių šaltinių surinkta, sugrupuota, atnaujinta ir apibendrinta platesnė medžiaga apie septyniasdešimties tarpukaryje pasižymėjusių bankų ir Taupomųjų valstybės kasų valdytojų, jų pavaduotojų ir kitų valdybų narių biografijas, veiklą, nuopelnus ne tik Lietuvos bankininkystei, bet ir politiniam bei visuomeniniam gyvenimui tikrai pakeis iki šiol susiformavusį įvaizdį, kad tarpukario bankininkų elitui atstovavo vos keli asmenys. Autorių nuomone, recenzuojamoje V.Terlecko monografijoje paskelbti faktai, apmąstymai ir mintys ne tik patenkins skaitytojų troškimą naujų istorinių žinių apie tarpukario Lietuvos bankininkystei bei krašto ūkio atkūrimui ir plėtrai pasišventusius žmones, iš kurių daugeliui sudėtingas ir negailestingas istorijos metas lėmė tragišką likimo pabaigą, bet galbūt paskatins naujai vertinti nūdienos darbus ir įvykius, kurie jau ryt taps istorija.

ENThe article reviews the monograph by V. Terleckas “The Lithuanian Bankers. Footprint of Lives and Works. 1918-1940” (Lietuvos bankininkai. Gyvenimų ir darbų pėdsakai. 1918-1940). The book crowns the research of various historic sources in the area of the history of Lithuanian money and banking sector that were started more than three decades ago and were published in earlier monographs. The history of Lithuania becomes much more versatile and consistent after becoming familiar with the biographies and the life stories of the interwar elite bankers, coloured by the author in warm colours; the majority of then banking leaders actively participated in national movement for deliberation in time of Czarism oppressions and appeared on a stage of political and social life during the years of the Independence. A lot of new previously unpublished data, collected from archives and personal memories, as well as more extensive material collected, grouped, renewed, and generalized from various other sources about the biographies, the activities, and the achievements of seventy bankers and national saving fund managers, their deputies, and other members of the board known during interwar, not only in banking sector of Lithuania, but also in political and public life, will change the image formed until now that the interwar elite bankers were represented by several persons only. In the opinion of the authors, the facts, the considerations, and the thoughts revealed in the monograph by V. Terleckas, will not only satisfy the desire of the readers for new historical knowledge about people who dedicated their lives to the interwar banking sector of Lithuania and the recreation and the development of national economy resulted in tragic end in this complicated and rigorous historical period, but it will also encourage to newly assess the works and the events of nowadays that will become the history tomorrow.
