Paulius Širvys : ilgas kelias "lietuviško beržo" link

LTStraipsnyje trumpai apžvelgiama poeto Pauliaus Širvio biografija, kuri yra virtusi savotiška sovietmečio Lietuvos legenda, todėl kartais nebėra aišku, kas toje biografijoje tikra, o kas atsirado jau veikiant savotiškiems „mitokūros“ dėsniams. Autorė daro išvadą, kad į geriausią Širvio eilėraštį „Aš - beržas“ subėgo visos pagrindinės jo kūrybos gijos (tėvynė, karas, meilė), eilėraštyje poetas tarsi suvedė ir gyvenimo, ir kūrybos balansą. Karas, nežiūrint visos tragiškos to meto patirties, buvo aukščiausias Širvio gyvenimo taškas, jam pasibaigus, poeto gyvenimo linija krypo vis žemyn, vienišos mirties link Jo kūrybos linija - priešingai - vis kilo iki pat eilėraščio „Aš - beržas“ ir tik po to nutrūko. Neaišku ir tai, kodėl poeto rinktinėje (1972) šio eilėraščio tekste atsirado gailesčio dėl „praūžtųjų dienų“ motyvas. Yra žinoma, kad tuo metu P. Širvys jau nelabai gilinosi į redaktorių daromus pataisymus ir jų nekontroliavo. Patikrinti, ar tikrai taisymas priklauso poetui, o ne jį patobulinti užsinorėjusiam redaktoriui (o gal tada, dar sovietiniais metais, buvo pamanyta, kad sovietinis poetas ir eilėraštyje privalo atgailauti dėl „netinkamai“ nugyvento gyvenimo), dabar jau nebegalima. ENThe article briefly surveys the biography of poet Paulius Širvys, who has become a legendary figure of the Soviet occupation era in Lithuania. Therefore it is not always clear how much of the biography is accurate and how much of it is the result of the operation of the mythmaking principle. The author is of the opinion that Širvys’ poem „Aš - beržas“ (“I am a Birch”) is his pinnacle poem, uniting his best creative themes of homeland, war and love. In it, the author says, the poet draws a balance between life and art. The war, despite the tragic experiences it caused for everyone at the time, was the high point of Širvys’ life, after which his life ebbed ever downward, toward a lonely death. Paradoxically, his creative line kept rising, right until the poem „Aš - beržas“ (“I am a Birch”), after which it faltered. It is not clear why in the poet’s anthology of 1972 a motif of regret for “days revelled away” appeared in the text of this poem. It is known that by then P. Širvys no longer took much interest in what changes editors made to his work, and he did not control them. It is no longer possible to determine whether this alteration was really the poet’s own work, or it was the work of an editor who wanted to ‘improve’ the poem. Perhaps back then in the Soviet era it was felt that the ‘Soviet poet’ needed to express regret in this poem for his “unacceptable” lifestyle. That, like many things in the life of P. Širvys, shall remain a mystery. [From the publication]
