Išsami empirinė posovietinio ekonominio elito studija : recenzija
LTI. Matonytės monografija "Posovietinio elito labirintai" - tai bene pirmoji lietuviška elito studija, kurioje empiriniai duomenys sėkmingai derinami su socialinių ir politinių mokslų teorinėmis įžvalgomis, teorinei analizei skiriamas ypatingas vaidmuo. Studiją sudaro trys dideli skyriai. Pirmiausia įvardijamas analizės laikotarpis, išsamiai išdėstomi sąvokos "posovietinis" pasirinkimo motyvai. Antrajame skyriuje nagrinėjamos elito teorijos ir ieškoma tinkamiausio posovietinio ekonominio elito apibrėžimo, pasirenkamas institucinis ekonominio elito apibrėžimo variantas. Ypač vertingas sovietologų ir sovietinių bei posovietinių visuomenių atstovų studijų apie elitą aptarimas. Trečiojoje monografijos dalyje analizuojami ir interpretuojami surinkti duomenys, siekiant išsiaiškinti, ar bei kokio masto permainos vyksta Lietuvos ekonomikos ir verslo hierarchijos viršūnėse. Prieinama išvados, kad "tipiškas posovietinio ekonominio elito atstovas yra panašus į sovietinio elito narį". Knygoje taip pat nagrinėjama pasirinkto elito sluoksnio tapatybė, socialinio statuso savivoka, vertybinės nuostatos, taip pat verslininkų santykis su politine aplinka, ekonominio elito konfigūracija lyties požiūriu. Didžiausią pridėtinę vertę atliktam tyrimui suteikia: posovietinio laikotarpio apibrėžimas, sovietmečio ir posovietinės erdvės elito tyrinėjimų apžvalga, išsamus elitologijos klasikų pristatymas, elito apibrėžimų analizė, ekonominės ir politinės srities santykių nagrinėjimas bei bendra autorės nuostata iškeltus klausimus nagrinėti išsamiai, nevengiant originalios, netradicinės interpretacijos.

Matonytė’s monograph "Posovietinio Elito Labirintai" is the first study of Lithuanian elite, in which the empirical data are successfully combined with theoretical insights of social and political sciences and a special role is dedicated to the theoretical analysis. The study includes three large chapters. First of all the time period of analysis and the motives for the choice of the concept “post-Soviet” are stated. In the second chapter the theories of elite are examined, the most suitable definition of the post-Soviet economic elite is searched for and the institutional variant of definition of the economic elite is chosen. The discussion of the studies of elite by Sovietologists and representatives of the Soviet and post-Soviet societies is especially valuable. The third chapter of the monograph analyzes and interprets the collected data in order to identify the scope of the changes, occurring on the tops of the economic and business hierarchy of Lithuania. The conclusion is drawn that a "typical representative of the post-Soviet economic elite is similar to a member of the Soviet elite". The book also examines the identity, perception of the social status and values of the chosen elite layer as well as the relation between the business people and the political environment and the configuration of the economic elite in terms of sex. The highest value is added to the study by the following aspects: the definition of the post-Soviet period, the overview of studies of the Soviet and post-Soviet elite, comprehensive introduction to the studies by classics of elitology, analysis of the definitions of elite, examination of the relations in the economic and political areas and the overall goal of the author to examine the raised issues exhaustively, without avoiding original and non-traditional interpretation.
