Code-switching in an ESP teaching

LTKodų kaita pasireiškia vienos kalbos vienetų įterpimu į kitą kalbą arba perėjimu nuo vienos kalbos į kitą kalbą. Ji yra sąlygojama įvairių lingvistinių ir nelingvistinių aplinkybių. Šiame straipsnyje nagrinėjami kodų kaitos atvejai specialiosios anglų kalbos (socialinio darbo anglų kalba) mokymo(si) procese. Be to, straipsnyje tyrinėjamos priežastys, kodėl studentai kartais įterpia lietuvių kalbos elemetų (tam tikrų terminų nežinojimas, žodžių ar ilgesnių vienetų reikšmės tikslinimas, metakalba, užduoties atlikimo būdo tikslinimas, asociacijos, grupės identiteto tvirtinimas). Kodų kaitos tyrinėjamame kontekste negalima vienareikšmiškai vertinti tik neigiamai, nes šios srities mokslinės literatūros duomenys ir šio tyrimo rezultatai leidžia manyti, kad retkarčiais pasireiškianti kodų kaita įvyksta kaip tikslinis reiškinys, kuris dažniausiai duoda teigiamų rezultatų kodą keičiančiajam studentui, t.y. leidžia tiksliai suvokti kalbinių vienetų semantika, o dėstytojui patikrinti, ar studentas gerai suprato vieno ar kito termino ar ilgesnio kalbinio vieneto reikšmę. ENChange of codes manifests itself by inserting of units of one language into another language or transition from one to another language and is determined by different linguistic and non-linguistic factors. The article examines the cases of change of codes in the process of teaching/learning of special language (the English language of the area of social labour). In addition, the article examines the reasons why students sometimes insert elements of the Lithuanian language (insufficient knowledge of certain terms, clarification of meaning of words or longer language units, metalanguage, clarification of the ways of performance of a task, associations or confirmation of the identity of the group). In the context in question change of codes cannot be unambiguously viewed only negatively, since the data of scientific literature in the area and the results of the study give reasons to believe that sometimes change of codes occurs as a purposive phenomenon, which most frequently gives positive results for the student, who changes the code, i. e. provides a possibility to get a clear understanding of the semantics of the language units, and allows the teacher for possibility to verify whether the student has properly understood the meaning of one or another term or a longer language unit.
