Knygų rinkiniai Gardino regione XIX amžiuje

LTRecenzijoje pristatoma Lilijos Kowkiel monografija, parengta remiantis 2000 m. Krokuvos pedagoginėje akademijoje apginta daktaro disertacija "Privatūs knygų rinkiniai Gardino regione ir jų likimai (1795-1863)". Teritoriškai pasirinktas vienas regionas, t. y. tokia Gardino gubernija, kokia ji buvo 1801-1842 m. Tyrimo objektu pasirinkusi privačius Gardino regiono knygų rinkinius ir bibliotekas, L. Kowkiel surinko istoriografijoje išsibarsčiusius duomenis, ištyrė kelias dešimtis iki šiol nežinomų arba užmirštų rankraštinių ir spausdintų knygų rinkinių inventorių, katalogų, konfiskuojant knygas po sukilimų ir kitomis progomis sudarytų sąrašų. Rinkinys yra svarbiausia ir vienintelė tyrimo ašis, apie kurią pasakojama labai nuosekliai - pradedant nuo rinkinių formavimosi, kiekybinės ir kokybinės charakteristikos, o baigiant rinkinių likimu. Gana išsamiai aptariama bibliotekų genezė ir išskiriami knygų įsigijimo būdai: paveldėjimas, pirkimas knygynuose ir mugėse, parsiuntimas ir prenumerata, dovanojimas ir keitimasis. Taip pat atkreiptas dėmesys į atvežamų iš užsienio knygų cenzūrą. Apibendrindama recenzijos autorė teigia, kad L. Kowkiel monografija yra svarus indėlis į XIX a. knygos istorijos tyrimus. Tai kiek įmanoma tiksli XIX a. pirmojoje pusėje buvusios padėties rekonstrukcija su trumpa priešistore ir žvilgsniu į XX amžių. ENThe review presents the monograph by Lilia Kowkiel, prepared referring to her PhD dissertation “Private Libraries in Grodno Province during the First Half of the Nineteenth Century”, defended at Pedagogical University of Cracow in 2000. One region, i. e. the Grodno Province, as it existed during the time period of 1801 – 1842 was selected for the study. Upon selecting the private libraries of Grodno province as the object for her study, L. Kowkiel collected the data, scattered throughout historiography and studied the inventory and catalogues of manuscripts’ and printed book libraries, which had not been known for several decades or forgotten when confiscating the books after uprisings as well as lists, drawn on other occasions. The libraries are the most important and the sole axis for the study, which is discussed very consistently, starting from their formation, quantity and quality characteristics and ending with their fate. The genesis of the libraries is discussed quite thoroughly and the ways of acquisition of books are distinguished: inheritance, purchase at bookstores and book fairs, subscription, receiving as gifts and change. In addition, the attention was drawn to the censorship of the books, brought from abroad. To summarize, the author of the review states that L. Kowkiel’s monograph is a significant contribution into the studies of the book history of the 19th century, since it is the most accurate reconstruction of the situation, which existed in the first half of the 19th century with a brief prehistory and a glance to the 20th century. A part of the described personal libraries reaches the 16th – 18th centuries therefore the scholars of the period of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania can also find certain useful data.
