Aukštaičių rinktinės juostos
LTAukštaičių juostų yra išlikę kur kas mažiau nei suvalkiečių ar dzūkų. Pagal juostų populiarumą Aukštaitija užima priešpaskutinę (paskutinę - Žemaitija) vietą tarp Lietuvos regionų. Tačiau čia rastos pačios seniausios (XVIII a. pab.) rinktinės juostos. Aukštaičių juostos pasižymi atlikimo technikų įvairove. Be rinktinių, čia buvo itin paplitusios pintinės ir vytinės juostos. Tradicinėse juostose buvo naudojami vilnoniai, medvilniniai ir lininiai siūlai. Apie rinktines juostas yra duomenų iš Ukmergės, Utenos, Rokiškio, Ignalinos, Anykščių, Švenčionių, Pasvalio, Joniškio rajonų. [p. 19].
ENCompared to the other four main regions of Lithuania, the ethnographic waist-bands were in XIX century not very popular in Highland. Nevertheless, the weaving technique was quite rich. There were pickup woven twisted, wound up and tangled (the most popular ones) Traditionally wool, linen or cotton threads were used. The oldest waist-bands were found in Ukmergės and Shiauliai districts. The ornaments and style of them remind the broad “hundredgarnishment” bands from Latvia. When comparing the oldest and younger ethnographic waist-bands with the archeological ones, we can see, that there is no direct relation between the progress of weaving technology and development of more difficult ornaments. On the contrary, waist-bands with multiple complex ornaments are disappearing nowadays. Having summarized the variety of Highland’s waistband signs, which are considered as symbols, we have grouped them to 17 main types. As per ornament’s complexity and origin we have found three styles: 1) simple archetypal signs; 2) originated from them rich decorated signs; 3) joint rich decorated signs. The simple fringes were quite usual, too. The pick-up woven waist-bands of Highland, are very distinct and have a long-root tradition, which inspires modern folk craftsmen to create traditional bands.
