ENA weaver and a member of Lithuania Folk Artist Union, Teresė Žulkienė was born in 1937, in the village of Lingėnai in the Telšiai district. In 1959 she finished Applied Art School. Since 1958 Teresė has lived and worked in Palanga. From 1958-1990 Teresė Žulkienė worked in Klaipėda „Dailė“ Centre. The artist has arranged seven personal exhibitions. Her works have been exhibited in prestigious folk art exhibitions in Lithuania and abroad. In 2007 Teresė Žulkienė became a laureate of the nationwide competitive folk art exhibition „Golden Wreath“ and gained the title of the best weaver in the Klaipėda district. Her works are found in Lithuanian museums and private collections. The „Mėguva“ Folk art music company is dressed in folk costumes made by Teresė. Teresė Žulkienė is one of the most distinguished of Lithuanian weavers. The roots of her emotional attitude to the art are based in Samogitian culture, which gave the artist persistence, diligence and sensitivity. Her creativity is versatile, helping to express her understanding and skills. Teresė Žulkienė makes original combinations of colors also gives new interpretation to traditional ornaments. In this way she maintains ancient Lithuanian traditions. The work of Teresė Žulkienė impresses by its vitality of plastic language and sincerity of expression. It reflects a unique understanding of the vanishing world.
