Kiekvienoje biobibliografmėje apybraižoje yra pateikti pagrindiniai biografiniai duomenys, nurodyti disertacijų pavadinimai ir mokslinės veiklos sritys. ENThis book presents information, which is of great value to the science history of Lithuania. It could be called Who was and is in physics and astronomy in Lithuania The book covers the period from the 17th century to the present (end of 2000). It includes 876 short biobibliographies. Some of them are the bibliographies of the men who thought physics and astronomy at the Old Vilnius University and various colleges of Lithuania, who performed first scientific observations, worked in the old observatory of astronomy of Vilnius University, etc. There are also 750 biobibliographies of the contemporary scientists who maintained theses during the last fifty decades, after the Second World War. The second edition of the book is supplemented with more than 150 biobibliographies. Most of them are biobibliographies of the young doctors who maintained theses from 1993 to 2000. Biobibliographies of teachers (teachers-experts) of the highest qualification, and of the authors of the physics textbooks are also included. The main biographical data are presented in each biobibliographical description. The titles of the theses as well as the fields of the scientific activity are indicated. The book is introduced to the reader by the historical review article of Prof, habil. dr. K. Makariūnas.
