Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės pagrindinės užsienio politikos kryptys XIV a. vid. - XV a. vid

LTLaikotarpį nuo XIV a. vidurio iki XV a. vidurio Lietuvos Didžiosios Kunigaikštystės (LDK) istorijoje galima pavadinti Lietuvos valstybės klestėjimo laikotarpiu. Per nepilną šimtmetį Lietuva maksimaliai išplėtė savo ribas į rytus, priėmusi katalikybę, pašalino kliūtis santykiams su Vakarais ir šio laikotarpio pabaigoje gavo galimybę likviduoti atsilikimą nuo krikščioniškojo pasaulio. Savaime kyla klausimas: ar dėsningi buvo šie LDK laimėjimai ir ar jie buvo planuojami? Kitaip tariant, būtina išnagrinėti LDK siekių ir jų realizavimo problemą. ENThe second half of the fourteenth century marks a turning point in the foreign policy of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. During this period the basis of the foreign ambitions of the grand dukes of Lithuania was formed. An investigation of fourteenth-century negotiations for the conversion of Lithuania shows that the Grand Duchy sought; 1. the establishment of peace with the Teutonic Order; 2. the subjection to Lithuania of the other Baltic peoples involved in war against the Teutonic Order; 3. the subjection of all Rus' to Lithuania. «Lithuanian princes reaffirmed these aims in all their dealings with foreigners during the second half of the fourteenth century and into the fifteenth. These plans were accomplished in Lithuania in the face of external powers, especially the actions of the kings of Bohemia and Hungary. At first a union with Poland was not envisaged by Lithuanian rnlets. However Poland, wishing to gain influence in the Grand Duchy compelled to assist Lithuanian ambitions. The Battle of Grunwald is one of the clearest examples of Polish collaboration with the accomplishment of the foreign policy of the grand dukes of Lithuania.
