Summary / Abstract:

ENAs defining organizations, usually the key concept becomes people that create organizations, develop and manage them. From the other point of view, organizations are people that need to be directed and managed in order to ensure organizational growth and development. Here a concept of people management arises; however, according to M. Armstrong (2014) people management is sometimes preferred as an alternative, but in spite of its connotations, human resource management is most commonly used. The author also focuses on Human resource management (HRM), which is concerned with all aspects of how people are employed and managed in organizations. It covers the activities of strategic human resource management, human capital management, knowledge management, corporate social responsibility, organization development, resourcing, employee learning and development, performance and reward management, employee relations, employee well-being and the provision of employee services (Armstrong, 2014; Bratton, Gold, 2017). As analyzing human resources in recreation field, it is important to focus on human resource management including such key points as job design, staffing and career, leadership, performance appraisal and reward systems, internal marketing, and satisfaction and commitment (Packianathan, Kerwin, 2017). Briefly, human resource management is a very complex and multidimensional concept having an international dimension as well. [...] Therefore, it is way too significant to explore human resource management situations in small and medium businesses of wellness and recreation area. The topicality of the research shows that without having a detailed situation of human resource management in wellness and recreation organizations, there is no possibility to come up with certain conclusions and foresee certain actions for organizations to develop human resource management. Therefore, the research problem rises as a question: what is the context of human resource management in wellness and recreation organizations. The paper presents the research report on human resource management context in wellness and recreation organizations in several geographical regions in Lithuania. [Extract, p. 151-152].
