Summary / Abstract:

LTLietuva išgyvena nuolatinės kaitos laikotarpį, darbo ieškančių žmonių skaičius nuolat auga. Suaugusiųjų mokymasis tampa perspektyvia galimybe bedarbiams integruotis į visuomenę. Šio darbo tikslas – nustatyti suaugusiųjų mokymosi motyvacijos genezę šiuolaikinės darbo rinkos sąlygomis. [...] [...]. ENAdult education offers an opportunity for the integration of the unemployed into the society. This work aims to examine the evolution of the motivation for adult learning under contemporary labour market conditions. The following hypotheses were proposed: 1) the reasons for studying change during the periods of young adulthood, as well as first and second stage of maturity; 2) the motivation for learning is different in the social groups of the employed and the unemployed; 3) Adult learning motivation is related to the psychological experience of studying and the self-esteem. 500 adults took part in the research: 238 employed and 262 unemployed who were studying at the educational centres for adults. The research confirmed the first hypothesis. It was found that the reasons for studying were related to the subjects’ age. For young adults, personal motives and personal development serve as important reasons for studying. Professional reasons and professional growth are the dominant reasons among older adults. The second hypothesis was also confirmed: the prospects of independence and seeking personal development were more characteristic to the unemployed than to the employed. It was found that the aspirations of the employed were higher than those of the unemployed. The most popular forms of adult learning among young and middle-age adults were attending courses and studying at institutions of higher education. Learning motivation was related to age and education. The third hypothesis was confirmed as well – there was a direct relation between the learning motivation and the psychological experience of studying.
