Summary / Abstract:

ENThe care and support of dying patients at the end of life is one of the most pressing and complex tasks in healthcare. Nurses who work with palliative patients have specific aspects of their professional competence, and it is mandatory to comply with the standards of palliative care and nursing care. The work of palliative care physicians is psychologically extremely demanding, stressful, and stressful. There is little information in the literature on the direct impact of nurses' psych emotional state and stressors on the quality of nurses' work, communication with patients and their relatives, as well as with colleagues. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the specifics of the work of nurses and psych emotional state working with palliative patients. To analyze the specificity of the work and psycho-emotional state of nurses working with palliative patients, a quantitative research method was chosen. The survey found that most nurses emphasize the need to provide emotional support and understanding to patients and their families, in addition to physical comfort. Most respondents (78 %) do not feel overwhelmed by various circumstances or very rarely, (54 %) feel emotionally exhausted very rarely or never. Most nurses (80 %) have a positive emotional state, no fears of uncertain origin, are empathetic, have confidence in themselves and have chosen this career path because of their personal vocation to help others. Also, with this work I want to point out that (20 %) of nurses are already facing difficult and traumatic circumstances such as excessive workload, lack of appreciation, lack of intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, which can affect their personal and professional performance. Keywords: nurses, palliative, patient, specifics, psych-emotional.
