Title:
Vaizdas kaip kalba ir žodis kaip dialektas
Summary / Abstract:

ENThe author says that referring to the principle of a word as a dialect (the language of “minority") and a picture as a speech (the language of “majority”) the scenic discourse visuality of two kinds can be marked out: the first - linked with the cultural identity, especially, national identity and the second - universalizing and denying it. In this way, in the same cultural medium, in one language, more precisely, in one performance discourse there springs up specific friction between majority and minority, between a picture and a word affecting both invariance of discource meanings and polysemy. As an illustration, the performances by Lithuanian producers Julius Dautartas, Jonas Vaitkus, Eimuntas Nekrošius and Marius Ivaskevicius directed according to original and Lithuanian classic works are discussed. There the “minority” language or the language itself as a means of communication escapes from the “inferiority complex” and becomes the universal language of the majority. The more unexpected the language and the picture combinations in the scenic discourse the more original and capturing creating individuality - artist will appear, thus, the more significant her/his national identity will become.
