Growing competition in the transport sector is forcing most companies to analyze internal problems and opportunities in their activities in order to survive in the market. Research aim. Based on the topic of the thesis, the content analyses the planning, organization, and control of the transport management function. Planning begins with the setting of strategic goals and objectives. The main aspects of the company’s planning: the cost of cargo transportation, time of order acceptance, planning of managers' activities, operative planning of cargo transportation. Moreover, one of the main and most important activities is route planning, in which the suitability of choice is determined by the calculations of cargo costs in the company.
