Summary / Abstract:

ENThe aim of this article is to present the successive stages of the incorporation of the Duchy of Masovia into the Crown during the 15th and 16th centuries, focusing on the integration processes of its inhabitants with the Kingdom of Poland during the Jagiellonian dynasty. The publication is divided into several sections. The first section discusses the relations between the Masovian princes and the Kingdom of Poland from 1320 to 1386, that is, until the reign of King Władysław Jagiełło. The second part covers the relationships between the Jagiellonians, the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and Masovia from 1386 to 1462, including the Masovian-Lithuanian conflict over Podlasie and the reception of the Crown’s statutes in Masovia. The third section details the process of Masovia’s incorporation from 1462 to 1495, during the reigns of Kazimierz Jagiellończyk and Jan Olbracht. The fourth part examines the final stage of the incorporation of the Duchy of Masovia into the Crown following the childless death of Janusz III in 1526, and the integration processes of this region with the Kingdom of Poland in the 16th century.
