Summary / Abstract:

LTTyrimo tikslas - išanalizuoti kai kuriuos gamtos ir žmogaus sąveikos aspektus lietuviškoje pasaulėžiūroje bei pagrįsti Homo ecologus ugdymo būtinybę [p. 90].

ENIn the course of history the character of mankind’s relations with nature was and is different. The self-concept of ancient Lithuanians as an organic part of nature distinctly contrasts with the current decisive man’s prevalence and dominion in his surrounding environment. The ecology crisis, which is also described as the crisis of the man’s spirit and morals, requires a solution. This study aims to analyse certain aspects of the interaction between nature and man in the Lithuanian world outlook and to ground the necessity to educate Homo ecologus. Could the school, reviving the ancient Lithuanian conception of the integrity of nature and man, contribute to a more effective development of the man’s ecological culture, world outlook formation and environmental protection? Current ecological state reflects our society’s entire world outlook, the system of values and the policy of priorities. The necessity to educate Homo ecologus and to ecologize the man’s activities and consciousness is obvious today. It is obvious that the school is also obliged to form a new relation with nature, the personality’s ecological conscience, duty and responsibility.Reviving and developing the moral attitudes of the Lithuanian ethnos, the school is likely to achieve better results in the sphere of developing valuable relations with nature. An important aspect of education of this domain is appropriate motivation of environmental protection. The acknowledgement of self-contained value of nature rather than the emphasis on the pragmatic environmental protection principle would partially improve the situation in the environmental protection sector. Education has to be based on the conceptions of ecological humanism and ecological ethics. Only the creation of positive valuable relations with nature and the education of homo ecologus would form the personality’s new quality world outlook in all age groups. Key words: nature, ecological education, Lithuanian world outlook, education of homo ecologus.
