ENThis article presents an account of my personal experience of, and involvement in, the manipulation of tradition and national identity work in Soviet Lithuania during the 1970s and 1980s. The focus is on the folk culture movement whose primary mission was to revive tradition and thereby to defend and reconstruct Lithuanian identity.
