Summary / Abstract:

LTRietavo savivaldybės kvietimu 2004 m. atlikti žvalgomieji archeologiniai tyrimai spėjamose Pribitkos pilkapyno ir kapinyno liekanose, šalia Zorūbų senųjų kaimo kapinių bei žvalgytas Lopaičių piliakalnis ir jo aplinka [p. 278].

ENIn 2004 an archaeological survey was performed at the supposed site of the Pribitka barrow cemetery and burial ground in the vicinity of the old cemetery of the Zorūbai Village. The Lopaičiai hill-fort and its vicinity were surveyed, as well. In the remaining part of the hill of the Pribitka barrow cemetery (of the 2nd-3rd century) and burial ground (the 7th-12th century (?) and the late 14th-early 16th century) in 6 locations the total area of 37 m2 was investigated. No burials were found. Southwards from the unregistered old cemetery of the Zorūbai Village an area of 10 m2 was investigated. Finds of the 18th-19th century village site were discovered. During the survey of the Lopaičiai hill-fort and its vicinity at the southern end of the flattened top of the hill-fort two hand-made potshards (rims) were found. On the south-eastern slope of the hill-fort in the windfall pit revealing the cultural layer hand-made potshards (mostly with rusticated surface) were found. The rims were bent outside and decorated with traverse dents. Besides that, pieces of clay daub and a lot of burned hearth stones were discovered. According to the finds the Lopaičiai hill-fort should be dated to the second half of the 151 millennium A. D.
