Dyplomacja USA a odzyskanie Wilna i okręgu wileńskiego przez Litwę w 1939 r

ENA presentation of the stand of U. S. diplomacy towards the regaining of Vilno and the region of Wilno by Lithuania in 1939. The author used reports by Owen J. C. Norem, the U. S. Legate in Kowno, to describe the determination of Lithuanian politicians interested in seizing Wilno and the region from the Soviet Union. At the same time, he determined that Washington assumed a neutral or actually a favourable position towards the endeavours of Lithuanian politicians. The Lithuanians apparently did not notice the great threat posed by J. Stalin: not quite a year after signing an agreement with Moscow the Red Army invaded their territory (15 June 1940), and on 3 July of that year Lithuania became incorporated into the U. S. S. R.
