Žvalgomieji tyrinėjimai Vilniaus g. sklype 31

LT2004 m LII MTS vykdė žvalgomuosius archeologinius tyrinėjimus Vilniaus senamiesčio V dalyje, 8 kvartale, į V nuo buvusių Radvilų rūmų (dabar Nacionalinis dailės muziejus), Vilniaus ir Islandijos gatvių sankirtoje esančiame sklype. Darbai vyko kieme bei pastato viduje. Tyrinėjimų tikslas - išsiaiškinti kultūrinio sluoksnio storį, chronologiją bei buvusį užstatymą planuojamų statybų vietoje. Iš viso buvo ištirta 18 bendro 48,23 m2 ploto žvalgomųjų šurfų [p. 250].

ENIn October 2004 the LII MTS expedition performed an archaeological survey in the western part of the old town of Vilnius westwards from the former Radvila family palace. 18 test pits were excavated covering 48.23 m2 in total. Stratigraphic data and random finds implied that in the yard and in the southern block of the building there was a cultural layer of the late 16th / early 17th-20th century. Pottery and constructional ceramics fragments were found; pottery fragments dominated. Constructional ceramics was represented by fragments of flat and vessel-shaped stovetiles datable to the 16th-18th century. A piece of stove-tile’s matrix was found as well.
