LT2004 m. LII MTS ekspedicija vykdė žvalgomuosius archeologinius tyrimus Vilniaus senamiesčio R dalyje - Užupio priemiestyje. Darbai vyko Malūnų g. sklypų 4, 6 kiemuose. Siekta išsiaiškinti kultūrinio sluoksnio storį ir chronologiją bei buvusį užstatymą. Abejuose kiemuose ištirta po 6 bendro 51,17 m2 ploto šurfus, surasta 613 radinių [p. 246].
ENIn 2004 the LII MTS expedition performed an archaeological survey research in the Užupis Suburb in the eastern part of the Vilnius old town. The survey pursued the goal to establish thickness and chronology of the cultural layer and the former building patterns. In each of the yards 6 test pits were excavated (51.17 m2 in total), and 613 finds were collected. In both plots the cultural layer which was from 1.4 m to 2.5 m thick and dated from the edge of the 16th / 17th century till the 20th century was established. Variations of the primary ground level implied that before this territory was urbanised, it was uneven and had height variations of 0.5 to 1.5 m. In the 17th and 18th centuries the ground was flattened and local draining works were performed. Stratigraphic data of the survey revealed that the primary building pattern of the site dated to the edge of the 16th / 17th century. Nevertheless the potshards found were datable to the late 14th - the first half of the 16th century and they implied that habitation the site started in that period. The layers of the 14th - the first half of the 16th century must have been destroyed during an intensive urbanisation of the 17th-18th century. Archaeological artefacts of four types were found: pottery and constructional ceramics, metal items and waste, numismatic materials and seals and fragments of glass items.
