ENIn 2004 archaeological investigations were performed at 5 locations in the vicinity of the chapels of Žemaičių Kalvarija (Plungė district). On the hill-fort in the vicinity of the chapel Jesus is Arrested and on the path of the Stations of the Cross the total area of 13 m2 was investigated. Finds relevant to construction of the chapel were discovered. Other finds (a wheel-made potshard, fragments of clay daub and stone pavement) are attributable to the hill-fort. On the path of the Stations of the Cross in the territory of the burial ground called the Žvizdras Hill the total area of 6 m2 was investigated; and bronze jewellery from disturbed cremations were found. On the path of the Stations of the Cross in the northern part of the burial ground in the cemetery called the Beržai Hill (Birch Hill) the total area of 33.1 m2 was investigated and several inhumations were found. On the path and in the square near the school (the old monastery location) the total area of 3 m2 was investigated; pottery and stove-tiles datable to the late 16th-18th century, 4 coins of the 17th century, a bronze sash-like ring, a fibula pin (?), fragments of ceramic tobacco-pipes and two flatware handles made of bone were found.
