Summary / Abstract:

LTKretingos dvaras žinomas nuo XVI a. Jį valdė Žemaičių seniūnai Kęsgailos, grafai Chodkevičiai, didikai Sapiegos, kunigaikščiai Masalskiai, grafai Potockiai, Zubovai ir Tiškevičiai. Dvaro sodyba įsikūrusi ties Akmenos ir Dupulčio upelių santaka, šalia X-XIII a. kapinyno. Manoma, kad šioje vietoje yra buvusi Kuršo vyskupo Henricho 1253 m. balandžio 5 d. rašte minima istorinė Duppie (Dupulčių) vietovė [p. 150].

ENThe Kretinga Manor has been known since the 16th century. In 2004 renovation of the Kretinga Manor Park was started. There are plans to renew the paths, the plants and the fountain in front of the palace. Remains of the fountain were found in the parterre, in the terrace in front of the palace, where during the investigation an area of 77 m2 was excavated. The basement of the fountain was a circle having 7.2 m in diameter and 0.6 m in width built of unprocessed stones of an average size laid in two layers. Beneath the fountain a disrupted cultural layer of the 16th-17th century manor was found. It contained wheel-made pottery shards, fragments of vessel-shaped stove-tiles, pieces of burned clay daub, coal, and probably a cleared clay oven site. In the lower part of the layer 2 semi-melted fragments of sash-like bronze bracelets characteristic to the 12th-13th century cremations. The survey showed the Kretinga Manor has not only architectural, urban and landscape, but also archaeological value.
